２１万世帯以上が一時停電 米首都、積雪６０センチ
米東部の首都ワシントン近郊を襲った大雪は６日も終日降り続き、同日夕の段階で積雪は約６０センチを記録、２１万世帯以上が一時停電した。その後、天候は急速に回復、米海洋大気局（ＮＯＡＡ）は首都近郊に出していた暴風雪警報を解除した。
ワシントン近郊の停電も次第に回復しているが、全面復旧には時間がかかる見通し。国内線のレーガン・ナショナル空港、ダレス国際空港も全面的に閉鎖され成田発ワシントン行きの全日空直行便はシカゴに着陸地を変更した。地下鉄の地上運行区間、路線バスも全面運休した。
ロイター通信によると、バージニア州では立ち往生した車の運転手を助けようとして、２人がトラックにはねられ死亡した。
ワシントン北東のボルティモアでは積雪が７５センチを超えた。首都に隣接するメリーランド州のオマリー知事は「（同州）史上最悪の積雪」と述べ、市民生活の正常化を急ぐ考えを示した。

記事にある、ワシントンD.C.の北東にあるボルティモアは、ワシントンD.C.から脱出する際につかうボルティモア空港（BWI）がありまして、搭乗予定のサウスウエスト航空のHPを確認したところ、以下のような状況。6日と7日は全面運休ですと。
明日から徐々に復旧の見込みのようですが、出発までになんとかIAD/BMIともに離着陸ができるようになってくれることを切に祈るばかり。そもそも現地滞在時間がきわめてタイトなので、1日でもずれたらアウトなんです。

Based on the record snowfall accumulation at BWI, we are adjusting our flight schedule as follows:
· Saturday, February 6: We have cancelled all service.
· Sunday, February 7: We have cancelled all service.
· Monday, February 8: We have cancelled the majority of our morning service; and our ability to resume scheduled service is contingent upon the conditions of the runways, taxiways, and other airport services.
